SSL (sau Secure Socket Layer) genereaza un link criptat intre un site si navigatorul unui client. Comunicarea intre cele doua este criptata, informatia fiind astfel protejata de eventuale interceptii.

URL-urile site-urilor securizate care utilizeaza SSL vor incepe cu https://, ceea ce confirma ca site-ul este securizat.
