What is a domain?

A domain name is a set of alphanumeric characters followed by .com, .net, .org, .info, or any other existing top-level extension.

Domain names have two or more parts separated by dots. The part on the left is specific, and the part on the right is general - example 'edomenii.ro' is an example of a domain name.
